There’s an incredible amount of chatter online about EU-GDPR and the looming date of 25th May 2018. Some businesses think that is the end of it and some think it is THE end. But if you are a sensible business see it as both a beginning and an opportunity.
Data Protection is forever, if you are required to register then it is an ongoing process. Better businesses will be judged on how they deal with data. Rest assured the general public are getting very well acquainted with their privacy.
Attending a course and learning about EU-GDPR is a good start but courses that provide you with the know how to ‘implement’ the legislation that is right for your business are few and far between. Both the Isle of Man Information Commissioner and the UK ICO have regularly published guides about the law and who and what it will affect and it’s FREE!
There’s also a lot of stuff out there about the risk from Cyber Attacks and whilst intrinsically linked having anti-virus and firewalls alone will not give you complete protection from a data breach.
